The Master Cleanse/Lemonade Diet


There are many different fasting methods that can be used in order to lose weight and detoxify the system. My favorite two are “Juicing” fresh fruits and vegetables  and “The Master Cleanse”. (I will focus on Juicing and its benefits on my next post). I found out about the master cleanse a few years back and was very intrigued by all the wonderful health, detox, and weight loss benefits individuals were getting from going on this “Cure All” fasting regimen. What The Heck Is It? A man by the name of Stanley Burroughs created the master cleans over 40 years ago to help treat ulcers but found out that this phenomenal cleanse did a whole lot more. The master cleanse detoxifies the body while it stimulates healthy tissue growth, so basically it scrubs, renews, and rejuvenates every single cell of every organ in your body! Fasting to lose weight does have its advantages.

Most of the fitness guru’s would have you to believe that is not possible to lose weight unless you’re exercising 45 minutes per day, 6-7 days a week.  NOT TRUE.  You can lose weight without exercise.

While exercise is extremely important for maintaining your health, toning and development of muscle, and also for increasing your metabolism, the average person just does not have the time.  I mean seriously, in today’s world we worked two jobs, we have kids, appointments, housework, dinner needs to be cooked for the family, lunches have to be packed, laundry to be done, the car needs a tune-up.  etc., etc,.

There is always something that needs to be done, so if we manage to steal just 45 minutes of precious free time to ourselves, the last thing in the world were thinking about  is going to the gym to sweat.  It sad, I know, but we are human.

Besides that, I think we all know at least one person who practically lives in a gym but are the same size they were when you met them.  On the flip side, I know people lost weight without ever stepping foot in a gym.

In one of my previous posts I mentioned a method called “calorie shifting”, which allows you by nutrition alone, to raise and maintain a very high metabolism.  You will lose a lot of weight pretty quickly, especially in the beginning.

To me that is a great motivator for anyone to get there selves in the gym to start toning up.  It’s amazing what we find time for when we are truly motivated by visual results.  One last thing, I don’t care what diet your on, drink as much water as you can, and when you think you drank enough…drink some more.

I don’t think people realize the importance of it.  Not only does it help to wash away fat, but it helps to purify and cleanse the body and skin.  Your best bet, get a water filter instead of buying spring water every day and keep your water jugs filled up.  I got mines from the local pharmacy for around $14 or $15 dollars.  It will save you a ton of money in the long run.

If you stumbled upon this page, its because you are either thinking about, wanting to or need to lose weight. Maybe you’ve tried a few weight lose programs in the past that just didn’t seem to work or maybe your ready to lose weight but just can’t seem to get yourself started.  No matter what the reasons are behind your wanting to finally lose weight, the bottom line is that you want it gone, and soon.  There are a few simple steps that you can follow to help you jump start your weight loss AND make this the time that you REALLY do lose that weight!

Mental Preparation

-Get your mind right. This is probably THE MOST important step that you must take if you want to succeed at anything in your life.  It is the foundation for success no matter what it is you are trying to achieve.  It really does not matter what diet program you choose but you must have to have a clear cut idea of the reasons why you want to lose weight,  what you want your results to be and what your plan is in order to achieve these results.

-Write it down. A great way to get mentally prepared for your diet is to first think about all the reasons you want to lose weight and write down everything, no matter how insignificant you may think they are. Write down everything!

-Keep your list with you. Take your list with you at all times. This becomes a visual reminder to why your even dieting in the first place and can help you out during those rough times when you have the urge to cheat, you would be surprised at how well this technique works in your weak moments.

Track Everything!

-Keep a food diary. This not only helps you keep track of how many calories you are consuming, but also lets you see were you need to make changes at in your diet.  Write down what you eat for 3 days.  Breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner.  When you look back over this 3 day period, you will be able to see which days you may have consumed more calories and you will also be able to see the reasons why.  Example.  You may have had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast one day and ate a lot less during the rest of the day, or maybe on the second day for breakfast you only ate a banana but then ate more during the rest of the day.


Appetite Control

-More fruits and vegies. Fruits and vegetables are extremely high in water and fiber and very low in calories.  The water and fiber from fruits and vegetables will keep you feeling full and also helps you to loose weight quick. Keep a couple of baggies handy of your favorite fruits and vegies, and snack on them whenever you get hungry in between your regular meals. Whole grain foods and beans are also a great choice of foods that will help to curb your appetite.

-Add more protein. Protein plays a very important part when it comes to appetite control.  This also keeps you feeling full but in combination with the fiber, will also make you feel more  satisfied.  Try adding protein to every meal and snack. Ex. a piece of your favorite fruit and a small hand full of nuts, an apple or some celery sticks with some peanut butter.  But try not to eat the whole jar!  A table spoon or so should be enough.  For your meals eat any kind of lean meat or fish, tofu is another great protein food.

In order to have success in what ever weight lose programs you may choose, you have to set the foundations for success, and know that this is more then just a diet, its a life change. Unless this is realized and accepted, people will continue to look for that “perfect” diet, the one that will “finally work for them this time”. Remember, its not the diet that didn’t work, it’s the person behind the diet that didn’t make it work.

NO, IT’S NOT TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!!  Okay, now that have your attention…. We CAN Eat AND Lose Weight!  Where did we ever get this idea that we have to starve ourselves half to death in order to lose weight?A lot of people (myself included once upon a time) think that eating as little as possible during the course of a day, will help them to lose weight fast.    

Wrong!  If anything at all is lost, its mostly water weight, and we all know what happens once we go off our starvation diet.  Whatever we have lost comes right back.  Well, besides that you might even end up having a few dizzy spells from the lack of nutrients. 

And if by chance you do happen to lose some fat while on one of these half starvation diets, after the first few days or so, your body ends up slipping into defense or “survival” mode. 

This simply means that your body stops burning the fat and tries to hold on to as much of it as possible for an emergency source of energy.  In addition to that, your body would rather break down more muscle then fat during this starvation period, (remember it’s trying to help you survive). 

And am I the only one who tried the “salad diet”?  Yeah, that one speaks for itself.  Nothing but Salads all day, every day. Well my brothers and my sisters, I am here to tell you!  Search no more!  I am here to tell you….You really can eat and lose weight at the same time. 

Now, I don’t just mean eat, I mean practically indulging in all the BIG No-No’s.  You know, the stuff we can’t even THINK about eating, or we’ll end up gaining like 10 lbs.?  I found this little gem called Cheat Your Way Thin, and it has got to be one of the most interesting weight lose programs I have run across in a while. This program actually requires you to indulge in all your favorite foods – regularly!

When we think about weight lose programs or dieting, I’m pretty sure we all share the same thoughts. 

1. We want to loose weight quick.  It doesn’t matter how long it took us to gain the weight, we just want it gone like yesterday. 

2. We want to do it in a safe and healthy way.  Yes, were human, so we want it all! But our reasons behind wanting to loose weight quick varies from one individual to the next.  In some cases, a person may want to loose weight quick because there may be a wedding or other grand engagement coming up, others may have a date with that “special someone” planned, and still others because of medical problems that have developed due to the extra pounds they’ve gained over the past few years.

Years ago, if you wanted to loose weight quick, you would have to practically starve yourself.  I remember this one diet I went on, twice actually when i was about 13 or 14.  It was like a beet, peanut butter and grapefruit diet.  Horrible, I hate beets to this day (still love peanut butter though).  It was a very strict diet with extremely small portions. 

Yes I lost a little bit of weight, but not enough for all the suffering I had to endure, and of course I gained it all back the next week, plus some. But now with all the new discoveries doctors are making every day about the bodies metabolism and how it works, gone are the days of the cabbage diet, grapefruit diet, and all of the other extreme diet programs.

Not only does eating more then 3 times a day speed up your metabolism and burn more fat, but now researchers are finding out that the combinations of foods we eat can cause accelerated weight loss.

For example, did you know that every time we eat, our brain releases 2 types of hormones into the blood stream which controls fat burning and fat storage?  But the best part of this is that these 2 hormones can be controlled or manipulated by the foods you eat! One program that is specifically designed to manipulate these 2 hormones and cause accelerated fat burning is “Fat Loss 4Idiots”, which has been around for quite a few years now.  It forces the body to produce a higher amount of fat burning hormones after each meal. 

A second technique used on this program is something called “calorie shifting”, this simply means providing your body with different types of calories in order to confuse the metabolism and causing the body to burn even more fat. On average you can expect to burn approximately 9 lbs. of fat every 11 days on this diet.  That’s not too bad at all, especially if you don’t have time to squeeze in an exercise routine 6-7 days out of the week!

When it comes to losing weight, most people gravitate towards finding the quickest, easiest weight lose programs out today.   Americans spend approximately $30 billion dollars a year on weight lose programs, pills, potions and products. 

Why?  Because in todays fast paced world, we are all looking for a “quick fix”, a temporary solution to what is an ongoing problem for most.  Some people will succeed in reaching their weight loss goals, but others will fail and fall by the wayside, with the only thing to show for their efforts is the half empty bottle of  the latest diet pill they will be adding to their kitchen or bathroom cabinets.  Sound familiar? 

I’ve been there myself countless times. So how do we stop this endless and very tiring cycle? 

Well the first thing is mind set, of course.  I know you have probably heard this 1 million times before, especially since “The Law of Attraction” movie, but I cannot emphasize it enough.  You need to have a clear cut idea of the reasons you want to lose weight, what you would like to achieve, what you want your results to be and “because I’m fat” just does not cut it.

When I finally decided that I was fed up with all the extra weight I had packed on over the years, I pulled my size 4 jeans out of my closet, and kept them in a place were I could see them every day.  You have to have a clear idea of what you want your end result to be.

The next thing is finding out which weight lose programs are right for you and your lifestyle and know that whether you are taking weight reduction tablets or following a nutritional diet plan, this has got to be looked at as a life change. 

One of the worst things in the world is losing 20 or 30 lbs. this month and gaining it all back plus some the next.  But no matter which road you choose in your weight lose endeavors, your program should never leave you weak, hungry or low on energy.

Ultimately what I have found is that the best and easiest way to lose the weight and keep it off is by doing a total body cleanse.  Our colons are jammed packed with all kinds of horrible waste that we have accumulated over the years from eating the foods we love to hate. 

This stuff accumulates in the colon along with parasites, some of which gets absorbed back into the body which in turn causes all kinds of problems like sickness, disease, cancers, obesity, bloated/fat stomachs, slow or stalled weight loss, etc. 

Many people who have gone on total body detox programs have been known to lose up to 50 lbs. or more of pure toxic waste from their body.  Can you imagine how much better they looked and felt? 

 Finding the right weight lose programs for you and your life schedule can be a little overwhelming,  but just like anything else, no matter which one you choose, it will only truly work if you are dedicated to making it work for you.
